We are Team 3123! Our name, the Owen J. Robots Wildcogs is a tribute to our school district, the Owen J. Roberts High School “Wildcats.” After visiting the FRC Regional Competition in March 2009, we were all hooked. It was just amazing to see so many students, parents, teachers and engineers gathered together in the name of science and technology. We left that competition determined to start a team.
Since last March, we have built up a team of about 30 students, a half dozen mentors, raised $15,000 in grant money and acquired the support of our school district. As our high school is under construction this year one of the parents has graciously opened their basement to our team as a workshop for the build season.
With the support of mentors from Lockheed Martin, Exelon, Pfizer, and Vanguard, we have successfully constructed our first robot. With a few more tweaks, we are confident we will meet the ship date. We are looking forward to the Washington, DC and Philadelphia competitions. Go Wildcogs!
